Some midweek food news around the neighborhood:
- The former home of Spur Tree, 76 Orchard St., is undergoing renovations in preparation for a new tenant, O Cha Do, a ramen restaurant whose name means “orchard” in Japanese.
- A $135 chef’s tasting menu at Clinton Street’s New York Sushi Ko features Spam, “sourced locally from the nearest bodega.” Apparently, the pink stuff in a can is making a comeback at “hipster” restaurants, according to Gothamist.
- The Manhattan outpost of Brooklyn’s Red Hook Lobster Pound, whose lobster roll just got some serious love from Serious Eats, opened yesterday at 16 Extra Place.
- Fork in the Road has assembled a list of 33 Lower Manhattan restaurants where you can eat for less than ten bucks; there are plenty of LES options to choose from on the list.
