A small update on the enormous residential project coming to the former Pathmark site at 227 Cherry St./250 South St.  Last night, at Community Board 3’s monthly meeting, District Manager Susan Stetzer said a courtesy briefing by the development team would be delayed for a month or two.  She had previously said an appearance before CB3’s land use committee was expected in April. Since plans from Extell Development are still taking shape, the briefing is being pushed back.

Meanwhile, Extell management met recently with a very small tenant group from 82 Rutgers Slip, a residential building next door to the development site. According to Trever Holland, tenant association president, Extell officials went over preliminary demolition logistics for the single story Pathmark building.  While the Department of Buildings has approved the demo plan, contractors are working out utility issues before proceeding.

Extell purchased the Pathmark site for $150 million.  One local stakeholder reported several months ago that Extell had signaled it’s intention to build a tower that could exceed 70 stories.  In recent conversations, representatives of the prolific development firm indicated that final building plans were not yet completed.
