This morning emergency crews are on the scene at East Broadway and Clinton, where there’s been a water main break. According to an advisory from the city’s Office of Emergency Management, a 12 inch line burst. Four hydrants in the area have been affected. The advisory indicated that Gouverneur Healthcare Services has water in its basement and parking garage. The situation is not affecting operations at the facility. The fire department has units on hand to drain the water from the affected areas. The NYPD is also on site and is removing four cars, so that crews can dig into the street to make repairs. At the moment, East Broadway is closed between Montgomery and Jefferson streets — and Clinton Street is closed between Grand and Madison streets. Residential water service does not appear to be affected. Management at the Seward Park Cooperative, the 1700-unit complex running along East Broadway, reports no service interruptions.
