Moscow 57, the new restaurant at 168 Delancey St. with ties to the fabled Russian Tea Room, is poised to open in the next few weeks.  This afternoon we were told a debut within the month is very likely.  Partners in the new venture taking over the former Apolo Diner space include Ellen Kaye, whose parents owned the Russian Tea Room for 1947 until 1996, as well as Seth Goldman (who’s running the kitchen) and Ethan Fein.

Moscow 57 has operated as a pop-up concept, catering company and events firm for several years.  During the summer, Kaye told the New York Times the menu would include “Russian classics” like chicken Kiev, blinis and beef stroganoff, but that Central Asian and Georgian dishes would also be served.  You can take a look at a sample menu here.  The plan was to offer afternoon tea in addition to dinner service.  There will be live entertainment, as well (Kaye is a singer in addition to being a restauranteur).
