More restaurant news this afternoon. Thelma on Clinton, the successor to Salt Bar at 29 Clinton St., is set to debut next week.
As we reported in September, chef/owner Melissa O’Donnell decided it was time for something new after Salt bar’s 10 year anniversary. She launched a successful Kickstarter campaign, raising $50,000 for the revamp. Thelma on Clinton is named after Melissa’s grandmother. It’s going to be an “Eclectic New American” spot with hints of the ethnic cuisines that have defined the Lower East Side. Dishes include: honey glazed dates wrapped in bacon, chicken liver mousse and house kippered salmon. The restaurant will be open for dinner six nights a week and there will be brunch on weekends. More details on the official opening soon.
