Last Minute Ideas: New Year’s Eve 2014 on the Lower East Side

Must Read

Keeping it local on New Year’s Eve but still in search of a plan? Here are a few suggestions. We’ll likely have more truly last minute ideas on Monday.

2014

John Zorn will be playing at his 2nd Street music club, The Stone, along with Thurston Moore, the former Sonic Youth guitarist, and they’ll be paying tribute to their friend Lou Reed.  There are early and late shows. At 10 p.m., Moore comes on stage with his band, Chelsea Light Moving.

Murray Hill is at the Slipper Room.

At Fontana’s, it’s the Rico Suave New Year’s Eve party, complete with a free vodka bar from 10-11 p.m. and a champagne toast at midnight. Click here for more info.

At the Parkside Lounge, a $100 ticket earns you admission to an all-night party including a “New Orleans-inspired” dinner, drinks, burlesque, live music, fireworks (really?) and champagne. They say they’ll even serve you breakfast, if you make it that long.

DJ Jonathan Toubin is at Home Sweet Home; $10 gets you in the door.

At Culturefix, it’s DJ/VJ Marmar from the ‘In The Cut’ collective and a four hour open bar. Check their Facebook page for discounted tickets.

Popular Brooklyn band Black Taxi is at Mercury Lounge.

The Bothers are at Arlene’s Grocery, where a $30 ticket gets you a one-hour open bar and a midnight toast.

Reservations are still available via Open Table for quite a few restaurants, including: Yopparai, Bacaro, SakaMai, Family Recipe, Pearl & Ash and Thelma on Clinton.

Skal, the new Icelandic spot in the old Les Enfants Terribles space, is offering a $95 pre fixe menu featuring dishes such as roasted lamb loin and smoked mussels with bone marrow.  More info here.

Black Crescent, the new cocktail and seafood bar in the old Alias space, has $1 oysters and drink specials all night.

If you’re seeking a room with a view, Above Allen at the Thompson LES hotel is offering a five hour open bar beginning at at 9 p.m.  Tickets start at $150.

The Hotel on Rivington will also be carousing in the clouds; some of the cheaper tickets for the Penthouse party are already sold out.  Other packages, starting at $210 (yikes!), are still available.

One of the biggest parties of the night will take place at Basketball City on Pier 36.  Five electro house DJ’s will ring in the New Year at the massive complex along the East River.  Ticket prices start at $155.
