A building owned by Chinese Christian Herald Crusades on Allen Street is on the market for $15 million.
Massey Knakal has listed the 6-story building at 48 Allen St./49 Orchard St. The 15,000 square foot commercial structure includes “offices, an assembly area, a library, reading room, living quarters, dining rooms, restrooms, and living rooms. The living quarters on the upper floors serve as guest rooms for visiting members and provide lodging for up to 50 people.” The listing notes that the building is zoned for commercial use, meaning the property could be redeveloped as a hotel or residential building. The lot comes with about 1400 square feet of unused air rights.
Chinese Christian Herald Crusades was founded in 1992. A woman answering the phone at the organization’s Orchard Street location today declined to give her name but indicated the ministry was seeking a smaller space in the Chinatown/LES neighborhood. She said a lot of people had toured the building, but so far there were no firm offers.
