After more than a decade as home to Alias, a new chapter in the life of the corner joint at Clinton and Rivington streets opens Monday, with the arrival of Black Crescent Oyster and Cocktail Bar, a seafood tapas and libations venture backed by longtime fish wholesaler Wild Edibles.
The small-plates menu focuses on a variety of raw dishes and ceviche, as well as liqueur-cured fish such as fluke; it is overseen by chef Dustin Everett. Everett logged a decade cooking in New Orleans under big names prior to his most recent gig at David Chang’s Ssam Bar in the East Village. Cocktails are supervised by bartender Michael Reynolds; the extensive wine list is heavy on offerings from Greece, Portugal and Spain.
The restaurant joins a growing population of destination dining spots along Clinton Street between Delancey and Houston.
