Stanton Street Shooter Sentenced to 22 Years in Prison

A man who shot three people in an incident on Stanton Street three years ago has been sentenced to more than 20 years in prison.

In May, a Manhattan jury found Mario Rodriguez guilty of attempted murder in the second degree and other charges.  Prosecutors said he he opened fire October 26, 2010 following an argument with a man outside 195 Stanton St.  The victim has hit in the torso and gunshots also struck two bystanders.  All of the victims survived.

District Attorney Cy Vance released a statement yesterday announcing the sentencing.  Rodriguez faces 22 years in state prison, plus 5 years of “post-release supervision.”

He is 25 years old.
