The Educational Alliance has set an opening date for its refurbished and expanded headquarters.
The large Lower East Side not-for-profit began a gut renovation of its flagship building at 197 East Broadway at the end of 2011. Due to construction delays, the opening was pushed back from December and has now been officially scheduled for February 3 of next year. The new facility, named the Manny Cantor Center, will include a state-of-the-art fitness center, a pre school, community gathering spaces and senior and teen centers.
For the past several weeks, the Educational Alliance has been heavily promoting health center memberships and offering free community events, including a series of Wednesday fitness classes.
