Photos: Banksy’s Halloween Happening in the Old “Billy’s Antiques” Lot
Tim Schreier stopped by East Houston near Elizabeth Street last night, where people were going nuts for the latest creation from Banksy.
Just in time for Halloween, the mysterious street artist’s month-long New York installation debuted a Grim Reaper riding on a bumper car, set to Blue Oyster Cult’s classic, “Don’t Fear the Reaper.” A big crowd of photographers and curious onlookers gathered alongside the former “Billy’s Antiques” lot last night at around 7 p.m., where the piece was unveiled. It’s only going to be up until tomorrow night (dusk until midnight). You can check out an accompanying video on Banksy’s web site. The installation, by the way, is adjacent to the new Bowery/East Houston mural from Swoon and Groundswell.
