According to an email owner/chef Melissa O’Donnell sent to fans of the restaurant, Salt Bar will close Saturday to make way for a new spot called “Thelma on Clinton.” More from her email:

As you may know, Salt Bar celebrated its ten year anniversary this past January. While Salt Bar has been a great experience, I feel it is time to create a new place more representative of our community on the Lower East Side.  So on September 7th Salt Bar will close its doors for good. In its place, I look forward to introducing you to Thelma on Clinton. I’ve taken the name from my paternal grandmother, who was born to Lebanese immigrant parents, gave herself the name Thelma when she was 18 years old, married an Irishman, and lived an inspiring American story. The food at Thelma on Clinton will reflect the straightforward and multicultural qualities of her life, and of life on the Lower East Side.

They will be celebrating at Salt Bar this weekend, saying farewell, etc.  The restaurant is located at 29 Clinton St.
