Coming up on Saturday, Old Man Hustle, the new bar at 39 Essex St., is throwing a neighborhood party, complete with free hot dogs and lemonade, entertainment, face painting for the kids and more.
Formerly Sweet Grapes, the relaunched neighborhood spot is owned by Bill Frazer, who also operates Flowers Cafe and Essex Flowers on Grand Street. He recently teamed up with another local, Mike Jarmuz, who knows his way around the Lower East Side nightlife scene. Mike’s been livening things up in the little space with a lot of new programming, including Reverend Jen Miller’s legendary open mic “anti-slam” (every Wednesday).
Saturday’s party takes place between 10 a.m-5 p.m. Bill’s giving away bouquets (there are some advantages to owning multiple businesses). Also there will be a raffle, giveaways and gift certificates to neighborhood establishments. For more info, check out Old Man Hustle’s web site or their Facebook page.
