Cowboy Pizza on Clinton Street Closes

Must Read

Cowboy Pizza, the year-and-a-half-old restaurant at 201 Clinton St., has closed.

The business, operated by the team behind East Broadway’s Pushcart Coffee, opened in the spring of 2012.  Via email, co-owner Lisa Fischoff told us, “the company just wasn’t bringing in enough business to be sustainable.”   She said the decision would have no impact on the coffee shop.  Outside Cowboy Pizza today, a note to customers read, “thank you for a year-and-a-half of your patronage and friendship.”

Pushcart Coffee includes the original location at 221 East Broadway as well as a second shop (Peter’s Field) at 362 2nd Avenue, near Peter Cooper Village.  A third outpost is scheduled to open in November in Chelsea, at 25th Street and 9th Avenue.

  1. Sorry to see them close. I disagree with the other review as I actually ate the pie… The pizza was good, clean tasting, fresh dough and real cheese, all organic, etc.Spinach garlic was fantastic…Problem is a typical greasy pizza joint opened on East Broadway (around the corner) as well as the “pizza for the masses”, Papa John’s. I think the owners had a good concept but it just didn’t work in that location. Perhaps a location in Chelsea near the new Pushcart may work……Anyway, Good luck Pushcart……….
