This weekend the Hester Street Fair launches “August Nights,” a series of Saturday markets stretching into the evening hours on the Lower East Side.
Beginning tomorrow and continuing August 10, 17, 24 and 31, the fair will open at noon and keep going strong until 10 p.m. They’ll get things started with a Filipino Food Festival; East Village restaurants Maharlika Filipino Moderno and Jeepney Filipino Gastro pub will be staging their second annual “Balut-Eating Competition.” Every week there will also be a beer and wine garden plus live bands and dj’s.
