20 Peacocks, the men’s clothing store, is preparing to close its retail location on Clinton St.
The “for rent” signs are outside and the shop is advertising a big “relocation sale.” Everything in the store is 60% off, including shirts, ties and accessories. 20 Peacocks was opened on the Lower East Side in 2006 by Mehdi Kabbaj and Adriane Birt. Kabbaj was killed in a car accident on FDR Drive in January of this year. We’re waiting for a call back from the store but it’s our understanding the business is moving in order to shift its focus. The idea is to devote more energy to producing 20 Peacocks’ own line of shirts. At a new location (yet to be determined) there will still be a small retail shop, but there’s no need for as much space. The store is located just below Houston Street.
