Here’s a message from the Chinatown Working Group.
The Chinatown Working Group will be hosting a Town Hall on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, from 6PM to 8:30PM, at Middle School 131, 100 Hester Street, Chinatown. The Town Hall is open to the general public. Light refreshments will be served. Since 2008, the CWG has been working towards the creation of a community-based plan to ensure appropriate development for Chinatown and its surrounding areas. Through active community participation, the CWG has approved action plans in the areas of Transportation; Education & Schools; Immigrant Affairs & Social Services; and Parks, Open Space & Recreation. In March 2013, with a grant from the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation, the CWG selected Pratt Center/Collective Partnership as a planning consultant to further assist us with the creation of a community-based plan. Topics to be covered at the Town Hall: Affordability; Culture & Historic Preservation; Economic Development; and Zoning & Land Use We encourage everyone who lives, works and has an interest in the future of Chinatown and its surrounding neighborhoods to participate and share their voices. Translation in Mandarin, Cantonese, Fujianese, and Spanish will be available for those with Limited English Proficiency.
