NY Funny Songs Fest 2013 is This Weekend

Must Read

NY Funny Songs Fest

The NY Funny Songs Fest is all wound up and ready for its second year of singing and comedy — together — with music. The festival, which debuted last year, presents four fun-filled days of workshops, showcases and comedic songs (from an impressive roster of comedy musicians) at local venues around the Lower East Side.

We checked in with founder and musical comedienne, Jessica Delfino, to see how she’s feeling about the Sophomore year of coordinating the festival and to get some tips on what to see.  Delfino noted this year has, “bigger stakes, a bigger budget, more performers, better venues, and (she’s) pretty frickin’ psyched.”

She said she’s “a little nervous but but mostly very excited.”

“We are working with Joe’s Pub, Santos Party House and The Living Room, all new venues to the festival that I’ve loved working with in the past.”

Tomorrow, there’s a free carnival themed registration event at Santos Party House at 6 PM. There will be free snacks, a dress up station and photo ops. They’ll be selling raffle tickets for a new ukulele and “a beautiful Rabbit sex toy from Babeland, super cool festival tee shirts designed by destroyHipsters.com.”

Delfino suggests the opening night showcase on Thursday, 50 Funny Songs on Friday, A Night of Dirty Songs on Saturday, the ukulele workshop and songwriting classes on Friday and Saturday afternoon, and the big Joe’s Pub closing party on Saturday night at 11:30 p.m.

Tickets for all events range from $10 – $12. VIP festival passes are available for $125.
