A new organization, the Association of Latino Business Owners and Residents (ALBOR), is inviting members of the Lower East Side community to a “get acquainted” event Wednesday night. it will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 107 Pitt St., at 7 p.m.
In April, founder Enrique Cruz and consultant Warren Cohn briefed Community Board 3’s econonomic development committee on the fledgling group’s plans. The idea is to offer various services, including legal assistance, immigration help, small business aid, assistance with landlord disputes education and community events.
The other day, we stopped by to meet ALBOR’s new executive director, Javier Soto. His main focus now is getting the word out throughout the community about the organization. He said they’re working alongside existing groups, like the Lower East Side BID and Good Old Lower East Side.
In addition to information about ALBOR’s plans, there will be food and entertainment Wednesday night. You can check out their new web site here or “like” ALBOR’s Facebook page here.
This is what us as latino need in this neighborhood, unity, guidance!!! Thank you ALBOR.
