It’ll be pushing 90 tomorrow before cooling off about 10 degrees on Sunday — so the weather seems to be mostly cooperating with several early summer events on the Lower East Side this weekend.
- On Sunday, the Lower East Side BID stages DayLife, an Orchard Street festival featuring food, shopping, entertainment, recreational activities and a pastrami eating contest from Katz’s Deli. The Living Room is in charge of the stage at Tammany Hall. There’s a full lineup of musical acts plus performances from Jessica Delfino and the Funny Songs Fest. You can check out the complete lineup here.
- Speaking of the Funny Songs Fest, have a look at our post from earlier in the week detailing the sophomore year event, which goes all weekend long.
- Sunday starting at 1 p.m., the Friends of Gulick Park will be hosting “It’s My Park Day.” There will be gardening, cheek painting, and a basketball clinic. Recently, Community Board 3 approved a plan to revamp the park, located on Delancey Street at Willett Street.
- The annual Howl Festival kicks off this afternoon. EV Grieve has details.
