December was quite a month for building sales on the Lower East Side. Here’s another transaction to pass along. A five story tenement with ground floor commercial space, 175 Ludlow Street, sold to an unnamed party in Houston, Texas for $5,325,000.
The 8,000 square foot building, just below Houston Street, is on a rapidly changing block. Among other transformations, the new Ludlow Hotel (scheduled to open in the spring) is right across the street.
Recent city records list LES real estate broker/developer Sion Misrahi as the owner of 175 Ludlow. Morris Platt, who once controlled a lot of property in the neighborhood (including the infamous hotel site at 180 Orchard), is also listed as a previous owner of the Ludlow Street property.
An Italian restaurant, Taverna di Bacco, is the current occupant of the commercial space. There are 16 apartments in this building.
