Police Name Suspect in Forsyth Street Murder
According to the New York Post, police have identified a suspect in the murder of 29-year old Charles Fernandez outside a barbershop on Forsyth Street Saturday night. He is Joshua Nunez, a 21-year old acquaintance of the victim.
An argument started inside the Jose Beauty Salon and Barber Shop and moved outside, where Fernandez was shot in the chest. He got himself to Bellevue Hospital but doctors could not save him.
Sources told the Post Nunez has a lengthy criminal record, including arrests for reckless endangerment, drug-impaired driving, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.
Fernandez, who lived on Mott Street, had three young children. Family members have said Saturday night’s violence was apparently the result of an ongoing beef between the Fernandez family and other men from the neighborhood.
A memorial service is planned Wednesday at Provenzano Lanzo Funeral Home from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m.
