Next Weekend: New Museum Block Party

Must Read

There’s plenty going on this weekend – you can check out our Calendar for a full rundown of Lower East Side events.  But it’s not too early to look ahead to next weekend, when the New Museum will be throwing its annual Block Party in Sara D. Roosevelt Park (between Delancey and Broome).

It happens Saturday, July 21, from noon to 5 p.m.  There will be interactive workshops for kids of all ages, plus live performances from artists Chris Giarmo, Yvonne Meier, Sxip Shirey and the High Priest of Antipop Consortium.  There will be lots of different activities, including one built around the “Bowery Artist Tribute,” which celebrates the rich literary tradition in the neighborhood.

All participants will receive free passes to the Museum, where they’ll have a chance to see “Ghosts in the Machine,” an exhibition opening next week that explores the changing relationships among humans, art and technology.

Check out the New Museum’s web site for more details.
