On Saturday afternoon, the M’Finda Kalunga Community Garden will host a Juneteenth Celebration from 12-4 p.m. The holiday dates back to the conclusion of the Civil War and celebrates the end of slavery throughout America. The day’s events will reflect on African-American heritage, and include readings, arts and crafts and refreshments—all for free.

Also, for the first time, the festivities will feature musical acts, namely The Ebony Hillbillies and The Mkay Rhythm Revue featuring Last Forever. All ages are welcome, and those attending are advised to enter the Garden through the Rivington Street entrance in Sara Roosevelt Park.
