L.E.S. Sites Participate in Historic Preservation Contest

Today American Express and the National Trust for Historic Preservation kicked off a citywide competition for $3 million in grants. Forty organizations are vying for the historic preservation funds, including the Henry Street Settlement, the Tenement Museum,  St. Mark’s Church in-the-Bowery and Duo Multicultural Arts Center on East 4th Street.

Here’s how the competition, Partners in Preservation,  works. Voters (that means you) can go online to vote for their favorite sites through May 21st. You’re allowed to vote once a day.  The four sites receiving the most votes will have their projects fully funded. If there’s money remaining, several other sites could also receive awards.

This afternoon, Henry Street is out with a promotional video urging you to vote for their project — to make their buildings more energy efficient. Have a look:
