Celebrating Community Art at the Chinatown Y and University Settlement

Must Read

Our friends at the Chinatown YMCA and University Settlement celebrated community art with a joint exhibition that opened last night at 273 Bowery. The show, “Local Color: A Community Art Exhibition,” features the work of artists from a wide variety of creative backgrounds — as wide ranging as an ex-Bill Blass model, a graphic designer/cancer survivor, and a grad student pursuing a medical degree while making artwork in his spare time.

The exhibiting artists all  belong to the Chinatown YMCA or utilize the University Settlements services.  The art work is displayed throughout the building – in classrooms, workout spaces and near the facility’s swimming pool. Make sure to stop by and check it out!
