A few more notes from Monday night’s CB3 liquor licensing committee meeting. Eater has details about the new restaurant taking over the conspicuous space at 77 Delancey (Allen Street), once occupied by White Slab Palace. As you may recall, the previous establishment was shuttered by the NYPD and blamed the 7th Precinct for its demise. Ryan Chadwick, Callum McLaughlin, and Gavin McLaughlin said they want to open a place called Gray Lady (or “Charter Ice House,” if a sample menu on the door is to be believed). It’ll be a raw bar featuring “sustainable seafood” which will all be “privately sourced from Maine.” The operators agreed to close the restaurant at midnight weekdays and 2 a.m. on weekends.
Also from Eater, we learn that the committee signed off on Frank Prisinzano’s plan to upgrade the liquor license at “Sauce” (78 Rivington) from wine/beer to full bar.
There were new details about the successor to “Oliva,” the Spanish tapas restaurant at 161 East Houston. Bahr Rapaport detailed plans for a Mediterranean spot, which would apparently be an all-day operation. After a resident complained about noise coming from the Oliva space, the committee declined to support an extension of the venue’s hours.
The new project from the team behind Grotto on Forsyth Street got an okay from the CB3 panel. “La Gente” at 303 Broome, will be a restaurant and lounge (the lounge will be in the basement). They agreed to have DJ’s on no more than three nights a month and to install soundproofing.
Finally, the restaurant in the still under construction Holiday Inn at 148 Delancey Street won approval for a full bar. “The Delancey Lounge and Grill” will be located on the ground floor and will be open every day between the hours of 6:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.
