Community Board 3 is out with the agenda for next month’s meeting of its liquor licensing committee. The March 19th shindig should be an interesting one.
First off, the beleaguered Ludlow Manor will be back before the board once again in their quest to expand their liquor permit to the second and third floors of 93 Ludlow/95 Delancey. As we have reported, both the State Liquor Authority and CB3 have been less than receptive to past overtures from this bunch. You can read about the whole saga here.
Other applications of note:
- A place called “Todd’s Mill” wants to take over “The Orchard’s” old space at 162 Orchard. They’re seeking a full bar.
- An unnamed applicant wants to give it a shot at 157 Ludlow, where “The Draft” and “Blue Seats” previously flopped.
- The Skinny Bar & Lounge plans an expansion into the adjacent space at 174 Orchard.
- Sorella, 95 Allen, wants to expand; the restaurant owns Stellina, an ice cream shop next door; presumably the expansion plan involves doing something different with this space.
- Earlier this month the hotel at 151 East Houston was put on the market for $21 million. At the time the broker pitching the property noted, “there are two underutilized areas of the hotel that could be repositioned to generate additional revenue, representing significant future upside… The building’s rooftop area and basement level could easily accommodate a restaurant, bar, lounge or a combination of all three, and preliminary architectural designs for such space have been completed.” According to CB3’s agenda the current owners are seeking a liquor license at the hotel. It’s an asset that would obviously “sweeten the pot” for any prospective buyer.
- A restaurant called “The Little Fox” has its eye on 96 Orchard, formerly (and briefly) the home of Vie de France.
- A place called “Lo-Fi” wants to open at 21 Essex, formerly a Judaica store.
- A restaurant named “Mi Casa Es Su Casa” wants a beer/wine license at 140 Orchard.
- An unnamed applicant is zeroing in on 176 Delancey for a full liquor permit. This space is currently the home of Teigman Press, the “small, forgotten antiquated print shop” alongside the Williamsburg Bridge.
- “Keybar” seeks a full bar at 134 Orchard, the space that used to hold Daniel’s Leather.
