City health inspectors shut down UC Lounge Thursday night, after the live music and comedy venue racked up 53 points for sanitary violations, which included evidence of mice, improper protection against food contamination and the lack of a food-handling certificate by a supervisor.
Thursday’s closure followed a Nov. 30 inspection in which the bar, at 87 Ludlow between Broome and Delancey, drew 59 points for similar issues. It was allowed to remain open, pending last week’s reinspection.
Shows planned for Saturday night were moved to Mehanata one block away on Ludlow, according to a handwritten sign out front this weekend.
In other inspections news, Teany Cafe was reinspected on Jan. 4 after being closed on Dec. 29; officials issued the Rivington Street establishment 40 points (down from 90) and prohibited it from reopening.
