Trinity’s Services and Food for the Homeless (SAFH), a non profit that is connected to Trinity Lower East Side Lutheran Parish (9th St. and Ave. B), is throwing its annual fund-raising holiday party, the “Cool Yule,” tomorrow night at White Rabbit on Houston St. from 7pm to 10pm.
Board members of SAFH include Jim Chu (the host), co-owner of White Rabbit and Jo’s, and Christophe Hille, co-owner of Northern Spy Food Co.
Hille notes on his website:
SAFH is one of the best and longest-running food assistance programs in Lower Manhattan and a crucial point of aid for people suffering from food insecurity in our neighborhood. Just two full-time staff members serve over 200,000 meals per year. The program is run by one of the coolest pastors around, Phil Trzynka. Though I’m not an especially religious fellow, I do believe it’s awful that in 2011, in one of the greatest cities in the world, so many people who live within a ten-minute walk of my business are going hungry every day.
There will be plenty of food and drink to be had for just $25. Raffle prizes will include gift certificates to great local restaurants and tickets to Bonnaroo, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, the Blue Note and more.
