Weekend Music Picks

Must Read

Here are musician Ken Beasley’s top music picks on the Lower East Side for this weekend:

Les Racquet

LES RACQUET – Fri, Sept. 16 | 12am at The Living Room

Two-thirds of Les Racquet originally formed in Massachusetts, with guitarist Patrick Carroll and bassist Kenny Murphy. They eventually moved to New York and found an equally cool sounding musician’s name in Daniel Malone. Luckily it was attached to a fellow Brooklynite with a gift for playing drums. Ever since then, they’ve toured consistently, playing their power trio tunes with a seemingly endless supply of energy and musicality. FREE// 154 Ludlow St.

RESERVED FOR RONDEE – Sat, Sept. 17 | 9PM at Fontana’s

Reserved for Rondee

New York’s Reserved for Rondee are a band that doesn’t take itself too seriously, but seriously keeps its punch well spiked and its sound sweaty and aggressive. A strong 6-piece rock mob, Reserved for Rondee has been known to occasionally bring in some additional strings and/or keys, depending on the night. They’ll be turning the furniture upside-down at Fontana’s on Saturday night, in the midst of their continued work to finish a new album “She’s Back in Velvet”. $8//105 Eldridge St.

ANDREW ROSE GREGORY- Sat, Sept. 17 | 10PM at Rockwood Music Hall

Andrew Rose Gregory

Andrew Rose Gregory (the bearded Gregory Brother) is one of the busiest writer/performers in New York. Always experimenting with new forms and mediums, Andrew has chosen a simpler approach for his Sunday show at the Rockwood. He will be stripping away all the ribbons and perfume, and getting back to basics. With just a microphone and acoustic guitar, he’ll will be humming and strumming through some of his original songs, along with friends Lauris Vidal & Matt Butcher.  FREE//196 Allen St.

Splitting his time between performing and producing, contributor Ken Beasley primarily plays with his own roots/rock band, Ken Beasley & Co., as well as the power punk outfit, Missy Sport, while also curating the Underground at the Abrons music series on the Lower East Side
