600 employees from Digitas, the international marketing firm, fanned out across the neighborhood yesterday — paint brushes, hammers and gardening tools in hand. They came to Henry Street Settlement to take part in a volunteer day at nine locations on the Lower East Side.
In the early morning, the Digitas team filtered into the amphitheater at the Abrons Arts Center on Grand Street. Henry Street Executive Director David Garza told them contributions of time and effort are just as important as corporate donations in keeping the large social service organization strong.
