A veteran of Aureole, WD-50 and Eleven Madison Park is joining neighborhood favorite Alias. Marcellus Coleman has been the featured chef at the Clinton Street restaurant’s popular Monday “pop-up” dinners (in fact- he’s in the kitchen again tonight). Starting May 5, Coleman will be at Alias permanently.

Alias partner Tony Powe tells us Coleman will be teaming up with them to spruce up “the existing menu with seasonally inspired dishes that will shake your taste buds whilst maintaining the great value (the restaurant) is known for.” The $10 burger and nachos stay as does the three-course, $30 Sunday supper and the weeknight $20 blue plate specials. But Tony says there will be “some great twists and new dishes on both the lunch and the dinner menu.”

By the way, there are a few spots open for tonight’s pop-up dinner. On the menu: lacquered pork belly with wheat berries, summer squash, almond, chamomile, pickled apricot jus; a poached egg with white and green asparagus, horseradish gremolata, meyer lemon; and green garlic soup (among other tasty morsels). The cost is $40. Go to Alias’s web site for more details.
