In this week’s New Yorker (subscription required), Kelefa Sanneh has a great profile of Ulli Rimkus, the owner of legendary (and endangered) Ludlow Street bar Max Fish. Have a look at the video posted above and excerpts after the jump.  The piece reflects on the bar’s storied history, culminating with the “good news” received in December that the bar had received a temporary reprieve from its landlord. But (as you might expect) the story is really about the larger forces remaking the Lower East Side:
