More Attention for Underground Fights on the LES

There have been quite a few stories in the past couple of years about Friday Night Throwdown, the underground boxing events frequently held in LES warehouse spaces.  Now T Magazine (NYT) weighs in with a big feature on the fights, which were held most recently at 88 East Broadway, under the Manhattan Bridge. 

The story focuses on a fighter known as “Rock Star Charlie,” the event’s big draw who’s “getting into modeling and may sign with an agency.” Charlie and his trainer Leon Taylor are also subjects of a documentary being made by filmmaker Michelle Groskopf.  The story is a good read.
