Fun with Furry Friends at Sara D. Roosevelt Park Tomorrow

Must Read

The ASPCA's mobile medical unit was booked full on Madison Street on Feb. 12; it comes back to the neighborhood on Saturday as part of the I Love NYC Pets event at Sara D. Roosevelt Park.

Tomorrow, Sara D. Roosevelt Park hosts a pet-centered carnival of information, adoptions, celebrity appearances and free veterinary care, including spaying and neutering services.

Sponsored by the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the Humane Society of the United States, the all-day event celebrates February as I Love NYC Pets Month.

Pet experts will be on hand to answer questions about training, behavior, grooming and legal issues. There will be lots of giveaways, from advice to supplies like leashes and collars, to vet care such as vaccinations and microchipping in addition to spay/neuter surgeries.

A kids’ zone will offer face painting and popcorn, and the stars of Doggie Moms, a new show that debuted this week on the NYC Life channel, are scheduled to stop by.

The project is part of the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals drive to “transform New York City into a no-kill community, while also promoting responsible pet ownership.”

The fun runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the park along East Houston Street, between Forsyth and Chrystie streets. Pet owners seeking spay/neuter services are asked to arrive at 7 a.m. More details here.
