We have received word that the famous gorilla artist Olek – yes, the one who has been crocheting all sorts of objects around the neighborhood, from bicycles to cars, and most recently, the Wall Street Bull – will be teaching a class, “Crochet Sculpture!” at the Educational Alliance starting this Monday, January 24th.  The class description: Crochet for beginners, artists and experienced ‘crocheters,’ this class will be a creative laboratory.

Learn crocheting as you transform an object such as a child’s chair, tricycle or household item by covering it in yarn. Beginners are welcome. *This is a special workshop in collaboration with Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. (Olek is an Artist in Residence at the LMCC Workspace this year.)

For a mere $125 you can partake in six classes with this feisty Polish phenomenon, and join Olek in her crochet journey that began with a pink bicycle right here on the L.E.S.

Monday nights // 6:30-8:30pm // Register here.
