The Neighborhood School Hosts Holiday Fair 2010 This Weekend

Must Read

“Handsome Dick” Manitoba, owner of the East Village bar Manitoba’s and lead singer of legendary punk band The Dictators, has a very important gig coming up this Sunday. He’ll be hosting the live auction at The Neighborhood School’s Holiday Fair with his wife, writer Zoe Hansen.

This will be the couple’s second year hosting the auction for the school, where their son Jake attends.   “It’s a no-brainer for us, it’s a lot of fun.”  Manatoba told me. “Anything I can do to help my son, for as long as I’m able — and he’ll let me, I’ll keep doing it.”

Fair festivities will include carnival games, arts & crafts, face-painting, print-making, henna and temporary tattooing, a huge kid-built maze, a raffle and food from neighborhood vendors including Ciao for Now, Solo Pizza and Mudspot.

Some of the silent auction goodies up for grabs: passes to the Landmark Sunshine; museum memberships; theater subscriptions; Knicks tickets; Doyle & Doyle jewelry and more. Bid online here or in person.
Proceeds from the fair support the Neighborhood School PTA, a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization that pays for the school’s art and music education, field trips, classroom supplies, special programs and teacher support. The event is free and open to the public // 11a – 5p // 121 East 3rd Street between First Avenue and Avenue A.
