From this morning’s New York Post “Police Blotter:”
A restaurateur returned home to his Lower East Side digs from vacation to find he had been robbed of $20,000, sources said. Georges Forgeois, 52, reported that the cash had been taken from his night table in his pad on Eldridge Street near Delancey Street while he was out of town from Oct. 31 to Nov. 7, according to the sources. Forgeois, who owns and operates five popular French eateries around town — including SoHo staple Café Noir, TriBeCa brasserie Cercle Rouge and Brooklyn hot spot Bar Tabac — reported the theft last Wednesday.
