Must Read

Tonight City Councilmember Rosie Mendez is inviting members of the community to attend a screening of the provocative 2007 documentary, “A Jihad for Love.”  Following the screening, director Parvez Sharma will take part in a discussion about the film, which “explores the complex global intersections of Islam and homosexuality.”  The event is part of the “Love Love Interfaith Weekend,”  a citywide program sponsored by the City Council to promote tolerance.  The screening starts at 630pm at East Side Community High School, 420 East 12th Street (between First Avenue and Avenue A). The event is co-sponsored by University Settlement’s Beacon Center.
