Planting Roots in Gulick Park

Must Read

L.E.S. resident Jac Zagoory sent us these photos from It’s My Park Day in Gulick Park.  The event was hosted by Friends of Gulick Park and included pumpkin painting, bulb planting, face painting and a ping-pong tournament.

  1. Please. I for one have to say that this whole “Friends of Gulick Park” thing is pretty pathetic. On the west side there have been astonishing gains in quality public space while here we have children planting sad flowers and face painting while begging for donations.
Why are we so unrepresented that The entire High Line gets conceived, funded and built in the time it takes East river park to be poorly renovated while being 5 years behind schedule. And Gulick park is nothing more than a vacant lot.
Who are our elected officials and WTF have they been doing for the past 15 years besides feathering their own nests here in our neighborhood…
Someone tell me that things will change around here.
