As summer winds down, you can almost hear the stampede to the beach. But if you’re staying in the city this weekend, there’s no shortage of things to do.
Earlier this week, in The Lo-Down List, we previewed tonight’s tribute to “Looking for Mr. Goodbar” at East River Park’s Summerstage. On Saturday night, the Nuyorican Poets Cafe hosts its monthly hip hop and poetry showcase and open mic, WORDS. And in our Weekend Music Picks, Ken Beasley highlighted Westcoasters Abe Vogoda at Cake Shop.
Saturday at the Hester Street Fair, they’re hosting a ping pong tournament.
The New Amsterdam Market is back at the South Street Seaport on Sunday. They’ll be showcasing an ice cream fair and, of course, be featuring lots of other fresh, regional goodies.
And it’s the last weekend to enjoy Summer Streets.
