Rooftop Dining, “Pop-Up” at Alias, the Essex Party

Must Read

Rooftop dining at Silkstone, a restaurant scheduled to open on Orchard Street later this year.

What’s happening on the Lower East Side food front? Quite a lot!

Next week, Alias will be presenting another one of its Monday night dinner parties. The restaurant is usually closed on Mondays but since the beginning of the summer they’ve been inviting well known guest chefs to “surprise us with a prix fixe menu that reflects her/his culinary skills and passion to food and fresh, local ingredients.” Marja Samson, who owned the Supper Club in Soho, will be in the kitchen this coming Monday. On the menu: mushroom dumplings, a Japanese bento box and, for dessert, a raspberry & dark chocolate dumpling with lychee sorbet. Dinner costs $40 and begins at 7:30. To make reservations call 212 505 5011 or email monday@aliasrestaurant.com.

On Saturday, the Essex Restaurant will be celebrating its 10th anniversary from 11pm-4am. There’s a complimentary bar from 11-midnight. To get on the guest list, email: eat@essexnyc.com.

Pulino’s chef Nate Appleman tweets that the restaurant’s web site is now live and – more importantly – they’ve started delivering.

The guys behind the Orchard Street catering company, Sikstone, have been whipping up farm fresh omelets at the Hester Street Fair every weekend. They’re planning to open a restaurant at 17 Orchard sometime in the fall. But in the meantime, they’ve given Urban Daddy the scoop about their rooftop — now available for private parties of all kinds.
