There’s plenty to do this weekend before your Oscar party/hopefully-historical-night-for-women-directors-celebration on Sunday:

Abrons Arts Center will host the premiere of Wallie Wolfgruber‘s  Sacred Things, tonight and tomorrow, at 8pm.  An evening of dance augmented by an Earth Installation by the choreographer and a photography exhibit by Lisa Gillette and Wolfgruber.

Downstairs at Abrons Underground, French-American musician and vocalist Sydney Wayser will perform on Saturday at 8pm, along with the Brooklyn band In One Wind.

Comedienne and freestyle rapper Carolyn Castiglia hosts the new monthly comedy showcase, Splurge. Tonight at Happy Ending Lounge. FREE. 8pm.

Tomorrow night at Bluestockings Bookstore – learn grassroots DIY tactics for getting your voice heard at Punk Politics Presently, a discussion of the way punk influences today’s political scene, led by two punk veterans—original riot grrrl Allison Wolfe and Mark Anderson, co-founder of the activist organization Positive Force DC. $5. 7pm.

Re-visit action hero Sigourney Weaver in James Cameron’s classic sequel, Aliens, screening at this week’s Midnight Movie at the Sunshine. $9.99. 12am Friday and Saturday.

On Sunday, Armory Arts Week will presents a Day on the Lower East Side.  Join art world professionals for guided tours of Lower East Side galleries, organized by The Armory Show. Tours are available on a first-come, first-served basis and depart leave from the New Museum’s lobby. Self-guided tours with a neighborhood map will also be available.
