Community Board 3 has a starring role in the latest profile of State Liquor Authority Chief Dennis Rosen:
Earlier this month, Community Board 3 tried to persuade the New York State Liquor Authority not to issue a license to a tiny Moroccan café on East Ninth Street called Sintir. The restaurant is upsetting nearby residents, who complain about loud music and boisterous patrons sitting in its outdoor garden, says District Manager Susan Stetzer. Her East Village neighborhood didn’t get the ruling it wanted, however. The agency’s decision to grant the liquor license represents a departure from its stance in the recent past, when it almost always sided with residents. Observers take this as a sign that the relationship between the community boards and the agency is changing. (Crain’s)
