Trajal Harrell’s “Twenty Looks” Returns to The New Museum for Two Nights

Must Read

Minor2
The New Museum is bringing back choreographer Trajal Harrell's solo performance, Twenty Looks or Paris is Burning at the Judson Church, this Thursday and Friday evening at 7:00pm. The performance, which was welcomed with warm reviews this past fall, is
the "collective and shared title of five dances in five sizes: Extra
Small (XS), Small (S), Medium (M), Large (L), and Extra Large (XL)."

In the artist's own words, the dance explores the question, “What would have happened in 1963 if someone
from the voguing ball scene in Harlem had come downtown to perform
alongside the early postmoderns at Judson Church?” The (S) version is a solo performance by Trajal Harrell featuring work by visual artist Franklin Evans (read an ArtSlant interview with Mr. Evans here.)
