On Thursday evening, the Educational Alliance's art school will be hosting an open house. It will be a chance to learn about adult courses and meet teachers before winter classes begin later this month. You'll be able to tour the studios and see 10-minute demonstrations in welding, portrait drawing, pottery wheel throwing and stone carving. Free gifts will be given out throughout the evening – donated from
local art shops including Pearl Paint and Utrecht Art Supplies.
Classes start January 19th. There are more than 50 courses, including: Ceramics, Drawing,
Figure Drawing, Abstract Painting, Realistic Painting, Watercolor, Clay
Sculpture, Stone Carving, Welding steel sculpture, Collage, Beginning
Sculpture, Photography and more. Over 50 courses to choose from.
The open house takes place Thursday from 5:30-8pm. If you register for a course on the spot, you'll get a $20 discount on tuition. Also, on Saturday, they're offering an "art workshop for beginners," for people who want to give a class a try before signing up. The workshop costs $20. For more information, call 646-395-4235. You can also check out their web site or Facebook page. The Educational Alliance is located at 197 East Broadway.
