A Summer Sunday In The Hood

We were happy to see fresh cut flowers yesterday at the Greenmarket on Grand St., between Essex and Norfolk. The LES/Grand Street market is open from 8-4 every Sunday through
November 22nd. For more information on the city's Greenmarket program,
see this link.

We just found the helpful NYC parking (and driving) blog, Parkit! which offers this tip:

Since Muni-Meter spaces on city streets don’t specify a particular
location where you have to park, you can pay for time at one meter and
use it on any other street in the city with muni-meter parking.

City council member Alan Gerson stopped by the Myanmar Chinese Association's 7th Annual Burmese Water Festival at Sara D. Roosevelt Park.  Below, children and parents had fun in the sun – and water!

Right next door at the Sara D. Roosevelt Park, The New Musuem was
having a block party of it's own. Local organizations like the LES BID, Chinatown YMCA Houston Street Center, Educational Alliance, and the East Village Historic Project and Visitor Center participated.
