Virtual Lillian Wald Symposium: Who Gets to Vote?
In honor of the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage�"of which Henry Street Settlement founder Lillian Wald was a prominent advocate�"join us for a lively discussion of who gets to vote�"from 1920 to the present�"and whom the 19th Amendment left behind, including disenfranchised African American and immigrant communities, formerly (and currently) incarcerated people, and others impacted by voter suppression. Featuring Sean Morales-Doyle, deputy director of the Brennan Center for Justice; Public Historian Dominique Jean-Louis, Wennie Chin, senior manager of civic engagement with the New York Immigration Coalition; and introductory remarks by NYC Councilwoman Carlina Rivera.
