Jimmie Mannas’ 1977 film, Head and Heart, takes a look at the work of Brooklyn illustrator Tom Feelings. The artist talks about the ostracism of Black artists and the influence of Africa on his art.
After the screening Mannas will discuss the behind the scenes process of Head and Heart, both in Guyana and New York City with Artist Tom Feelings.
This film screening is in partnership with the Jimmie Mannas archives, which seeks to preserve the legacy and archives of Filmmakers and Photographer James M. Mannas Jr.
